About Fusion-X LAN / LANing General |
| Q: When did Fusion-X LAN start? And how? |
A: Unofficially the group started in December of 2003. We threw a couple
of LANs with just a few friends for a couple of months and then decided we
needed a name in March of 2004. Spending class time to think of one, Joe and
I hit gold in just 1 day: Fusion-X LAN. All four of our staff love to play
games so we've put a lot into this project.
|
| Q: What is a "LAN"? |
A: LAN stands for Local Area Network. If you don't
know what a network is, please Google it and come back! Gaming over a LAN
allows for very low latency, a great atmosphere to game in, and the ability
to play with people in your area. It's a lot of fun for both advanced and
novice gamers!

Attending Fusion-X LANs |
| Q: How much money is it to attned a Fusion-X LAN? |
A: The entry/ticket price may vary from event to event. Why? Because we
aren't set out to make a profit. We try and charge cost! To find out prices of LANs,
visit the
Event Registration.
|
| Q: Can I bring my own food or drinks? |
A: Food and pop is included with your ticket purchase, so there's
really no point. We do recommend that you bring some type of food for everyone
to enjoy (ie. deserts, chips & dip, etcetera). Bawls will be available for
purchase at the LAN, it will not cost an arm and a leg because we will sell
it at cost. BTW: We here at FXL love pies ;D (hint hint).
|
| Q: Why should I register? |
A: The real question here is: Why shouldn't you register? There are
two type of registration here at FXL. First you can register at our
forums where there's something
interesting going on all the time. You can meet the fellow gamers of FXL here
and discuss problems, stories, and just about anything you want. The second type
is event registration. When
you register to an event you will pay the advance ticket price and save a few bucks
over just walking into the event. It's quick and painless to do!
|
| Q: I am under the age of 18. Can I still come to the LAN? |
A: Of course you can! We require everyone to sign an
agreement,
and if you're under 18 have your parents fill out the two appropriate forms for
17 years of age and younger and you're set! All agreement forms can be found
here.
|
| Q: Is internet provided at the LANs? |
A: Short answer: no. The FXL staff has tried to get cable modem access
many times but right now it's not possible. Even if we had internet, it would be restricted
to ports 80 (HTTP), 110 (POP3), 5190 (AIM). Sorry guys, maybe in the future.
|
| Q: Are consoles (PSOne, PS2, XBox, etc) allowed at Fusion-X LANs? |
A: Right now, yes. It's on a trial basis and we don't expect to decide against
them unless there is a problem. Handhelds are probably better to pass the time with if needed,
though.
